The Center on Aging’s mission is to enhance the quality of life for older adults and their families through research, education and services to our community. Within this broad mission, the Center on Aging faculty conduct basic and clinical research, train future scientists and professionals, offer information to older adults and their families and provide leadership for the development and improvement of health and human services for the aging population. The University of Miami has a long tradition of research and service with aging populations. The research programs at the University encompass biological, psychological and sociological processes of aging, disease prevention, health promotion and service evaluation.
The Center catalyzes research, education and clinical demonstration programs within the University of Miami in collaboration with the community and other academic institutions and organizations. The Center’s efforts continue to focus on basic and applied/ translational research and address the diversity of the aging population. The Center’s faculty represent a broad range of disciplines such as engineering, law, the humanities, economics and epidemiology.
Aging is a natural part of life. The innovative research and programs being developed at the University of Miami Center on Aging are directed towards successful aging.
